Magicard PRIMA 8

The Magicard PRIMA 8 is a retransfer card printer for anyone who needs photo quality, durability and strong security features in a compact system. Using the retransfer process, the PRIMA 8 first prints onto a film and then transfers the image completely onto the card using heat – edge-to-edge and with a high gloss finish, ideal for chip cards with uneven surfaces.

How retransfer works – and why it matters

With retransfer printing, the motif is first printed onto a thin film and then transferred to the entire surface of the card. The result: genuine borderless printing, uniform colour areas, no "white borders" – even on cards with embedded antennas/chips. Retransfer is the preferred choice for applications where appearance and durability are paramount (employee IDs, citizen ID cards, driving licences, payment or access cards).

Practical advantages at a glance

  • Better card image (edge-to-edge, even surfaces) – especially for chip cards.
  • Greater security (UV, laminate, optional 600 dpi microtext, printer lock).
  • Predictable throughput (≈100 cards/hour, large magazines) for typical batch jobs.
  • Long-term investment (3-year warranty, FIPS certification, broad accessory ecosystem).

Areas of application/fields of use for the Magicard PRIMA 8

  • Business & Industry: Employee badges, visitor passes, access cards – robust and tamper-proof in continuous use.
